June 7 cathedral

Today was a much slower paced day. We started the morning having breakfast with Marina from Manhattan NY travelling by herself.  We compared details of our travels in Spain and then had a lengthy and pleasant conversation about Canadian and US, politics, economy and social issues. Then off for a Cathedral tour with Concepcion & Alfonso, great tour guides and very reasonably priced 5 euros plus cathedral admission for private group tour; we only had 7 people in our group. Sevilla's cathedral is the third largest church in Europe (after St Peter's at the Vatican & St. Paul's in London) & the largest gothic Church anywhere. This picture is the mahogany carved pipe organ, with 7000 pipes. The organ is played every Sunday. The high altar, choir loft, and organ are in the center of the cathedral, not typical for cathedrals, For the past 4 years the high alter is being cleaned with the cleaning expected to be complete next year. During the cleaning the altar is closed off and is displayed by a large mural picture.
