Lamego

Once docked in Ragua we were bused to Lamego where we stopped at a Nossa Senhora dos Remedios, this church is believed to be Portugal's first church and Europes's second. Every September thousands of devout worshippers arrive in Lamego to pray at the magnificent  Nossa Senhora dos Remedios. The most penitent way for the faithful to treach the twin-towered church is via 686 steps that climb the hillside. Many pilgrims climb the steps on their knees.
